  1. Eat nutritious calories – the majority of your energy intake should come from nutritious calories that also provide your body with nutrients like vitamins, minerals, protein, fibre and good fats. Avoid empty calories.
  2. Don’t skip breakfast – it kick-starts your metabolism and helps you to be alert and awake throughout the day. Make it wholesome.
  3. Read the small print – it’s important to read packaging correctly.
  4. Drink lots of water – it is an essential part of your diet. There’s no secret here!
  5. Avoid fizzy drinks, energy drinks or juices with added sugar. Eat your calories don’t drink them.
  6. Get plenty of sunlight – there are many benefits from vitamin D, including a reduced risk of several forms of cancer, heart disease, multiple sclerosis and osteoporosis, as well as improved immune function.
  7. Start a new exercise regimen – but one that you enjoy and will stick to. Choose something beneficial and safe, not one which is trending.
  8. Have an annual check-up – the older you get, the more checks you need. Don’t ever skip this one.
  9. Stay out of debt – you don’t need the extra stress and worries. Stress is a leading cause of heart attacks and strokes.
  10. Live life to the fullest – life is too short not to indulge a little, play a lot and laugh every second possible.
