We talk celebrity hair disasters at their worst.
By Angela Bekiaris
We’ve all had at least one hair disaster over the years. But when you’re a Hollywood star who is constantly in the limelight, a disastrous hairstyle could leave you in some serious trouble – not just with your stylist, but with the Fashion Police, too.
The Big Bang Theory actress said ‘fake bangs almost ruined her hair’. The star was slammed in 2013 when she showed up to the SAG Awards with bangs, with reviewers calling locks ‘far from bangin’ and compared it to helmet hair. Chatting on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Cuoco explained that she wore fake bangs to hide a black eye and six stitches received on set of The Big Bang Theory. “I wanted to wear them because it covered my eye and I was really insecure about this huge black eye,” said Cuoco. “These bangs who I’ve named Bev almost ruined my entire career.”
The British-born star has tried out cornrows, a Winona Ryder pixie cut – which she says resembled a helmet – and ‘experimented with rave colours’ from pink with white streaks to green. She says about her home colouring: “I once used henna to dye my hair brown for an audition, thinking I was being clever because it’s all natural. Little did I know it was the worst thing I could’ve done as it coats the follicles so nothing else can penetrate and I ended up having to put ketchup on it for about a year to get rid of the green tinge.”
Selena says growing up she had her share of bad hair days – she actually describes it as a bad hair phase. “My biggest hair mistake is when I was younger and I was figuring out how to use a flat-iron,” Selena has revealed. “I used to think that just because visually I could see that this hair was straight that the back didn’t necessarily have to be straight, so for the entire sixth grade, I only straightened the front of my hair. That wasn’t really my proudest moment.”
When the star swapped her shoulder length locks for a seriously short new ‘do, she left fans devastated. ”LOVE my hair ❤ feel so happy, pretty, and free,’ she tweeted at the time. Well, we all thought otherwise.
The How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days star’s poodle perm was just shocking. We don’t know what she was thinking – or why – but we’re glad she got rid of it fast.
Julia experimented with red tones in 1990 – and truth is, Pretty Woman got really ugly.
The queen of pop had a rare ginger fringed moment back in 1998. Thank goodness, it was very, very short-lived.
Kelly has definitely had some shockers in her time – from dark, to short and just plain scary!
Katie suffered a hair malfunction back in 2001, when she chopped her locks into a very blunt bob with a forehead skimming fringe.
Back in her No Doubt rock-chick days, she showcased every colour, cut and style under the sun. Not flattering at all.
The Voice judge has often opted for unusual hairstyles, but her permed hair extensions with straight pink streaks in 2001 were the worst. Along with her dark locks, awful afro and wet-look curls, of course.
